Yeah Destroyer’s Rubies is without a doubt their best album. It was one of the albums I was listening to as I was fearfully venturing into becoming a full-fledged musical connoisseur or whateverthehell I am.
I mean, Rubies, Your Blood, Painter in Your Pocket, 3000 Flowers are some of best songs they’ve ever done. Yeah, Trouble in Dreams and Kaputt are good albums as well, but COME ON.
ooh as far as Record Store Day goes I HAVE to get my hands on a vinyl copy of Destroyer’s Rubies.
And a 45 of Tebowie because who can possibly resist?
The full list is here if you haven’t seen it yet.

All Quiet on the Western Front is the most well-written book I have ever read. It doesn’t seem to get enough love, more people should read it. Any time anyone asks why I’m so fascinated with war fiction and writing about war I point to this book. It’s brilliant and my Favourite Book Of All Time.

Well this is hopeless. Cynics say it’s best to go through life without getting too attached, and while I sincerely disagree, there are some instances where it’s better to keep your dodgy heart out of matters, lest practicality take a sledgehammer to it. If only I could follow my own advice.

David Bowie: ooo Suffragette Citay!
David Bowie: ooo Suffragette Citay!
David Bowie: Ooohoo Suffragette Citay!
David Bowie: oooohoo Sufragette Citay!
Song: dum dum dum dum dum!
Me: EVERY ONE SHUT UP
The entire universe seems to go still, every living thing on earth freezes, a tumble weed rolls by and crickets chirp and it seems as if time has slowed down.
David Bowie: ooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOH WHAM BAM THANK YOU MA'AM!
Me: Okay, carry on.
I have a feeling that anon was trying to see if I was cool and edgy enough to hang out with.

Because it was really informative and gave great insight into the albums.
If I remember correctly, I described Kid A as “y’know when you’re driving around in the rain at night on the deserted highway? Yeah, that’s what this...

NO GUYS I’VE GOT IT!
1.buy eight CD players.
2. Buy all the studio releases.
3. Put each album in each CD player
4. Find a few friends to help you hit play on all eight at once.
5. Enjoy
[optional: buy more CD players and listen to some b-sides and eps]
[cool kid edition: buy a lot of record players and everything on vinyl. But where do you have that kinda money, cool kid?]

re: that flowchart that’s going around.
I once made a 3,000 word “baby’s first Radiohead” guide to get someone into Radiohead, and I basically advised:
1. OK Computer
2. Did you like the song-y songs [Karma Police, Electioneering] better, or the more disjointed ones [really any of the others]? Song songs- go to The Bends, the others-go to Kid A
3. From Kid A, go to...
